patashnik Posted November 4, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I placed an order for a Leica MP á la carte several months ago (early August), through a dealer here in Europe. Since then, nothing much has happened. I have emailed and called the dealer numerous times, but no news so far. I called Leica, and they couldn't find any MP á la carte order from this dealer, so something is not like it should be. My question is: Does anyone have any idea how long such an order should take? Riccis Posted November 4, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 4, 2008 Both of my a-la-carte orders tooks about 8-10 weeks... Did you pay a deposit to the dealer after they received your configuration? Assumming you configured the camera through the a-la-carte website, you should have an email with the configuration ID that you can provide to Leica. Cheers,

But I made my order directly with the dealer, so I didn't receive any config ID.
Riccis Posted November 4, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 4, 2008 I believe he should have asked you to sign a form containing your configuration choices... That's what I had to do on both occassions I ordered.
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted November 4, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 4, 2008 That seems too long, your camera should just turn around the corner. But better than just waiting: Hazzle your dealer, he should enqiure for you. Best
RITskellar Posted November 4, 2008 Share #6 Posted November 4, 2008 Mine have ranged from 5-8 weeks. Good luck!
patashnik Posted November 7, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted November 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Talked to the dealer for the umpteenth time yesterday. My order was never placed with Leica, he just took my deposit and "forgot" about it. Got my deposit back, and needless to say - I will find another dealer... earleygallery Posted November 7, 2008 Share #9 Posted November 7, 2008 I understand that not all dealers are authorised for 'a la carte' cameras - they have to commit to buying a certain amount of stock etc. Maybe your dealer was hoping by taking an order that he'd get the a la carte status. Just a thought. Pretty shoddy service whatever.
