jaapv Posted November 5, 2008 Author Share #24 Posted November 5, 2008 Curioser and curioser - when I open them with reescue-pro I have to rename them from .dng to .tif, and then I can find the image - in black-and white!
SJP Posted November 5, 2008 Share #25 Posted November 5, 2008 What happens if you rename the tiff extension back to DNG afterwards? If you are using Windows that is easy, no idea how to do that on a Mac.
jaapv Posted November 5, 2008 Author Share #26 Posted November 5, 2008 It does not open in PS... Here is a file: https://rcpt.yousendit.com/622271059/237a5fc1ef1630f658632a1f2c307991
robsteve Posted November 6, 2008 Share #27 Posted November 6, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jaap: Are you using RescuePro to get the files off the cards or are you trying to use it to correct files you already have off the cards and onto the computer? If you change the file name to tiff, how big is the file when you open it in Photoshop? It may just be seeing the embedded thumbnail when you change the file to tiff. sdai Posted November 6, 2008 Share #28 Posted November 6, 2008 Jaap, your probably need to send your DMR to Leica for an overhaul. The embeded thumb I extracted from the corrupted DNG seems to be a joint of two half frames, the file header is completed messed, I had to remove it and attach a good DMR file header and dump part of the image data and reconstruct part of image for you. The smaller one is the embeded thumb, the bigger one is the reconstructed image (part of the full frame). I suspect most the other affected images are useless like this. Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted November 6, 2008 Author Share #29 Posted November 6, 2008 Well, there you are. Thank you everybody for your trouble. The test file was not a keeper I see Fortunately I got most of the "good"shots before it died, and I had my M8/ 135 TE with me, which worked flawlessly. The woes and joys of digital photography.

Did you B&W image show a complete image or was it split like the one Simon posted? In other words, the split files may have been from a corruption on the SD card that RescuePro may be able to fix. jaapv Posted November 6, 2008 Author Share #31 Posted November 6, 2008 The B&W one was complete, after Rescue - pro. I'll put it on yousendit later. That Simon had to discard part of the colour info suggests that it was the same type of corruption.
jaapv Posted November 6, 2008 Author Share #32 Posted November 6, 2008 GOT THEM !!!!!!:):). Copied them through Rescue Pro, copied them to another SD card, ran Rescue Pro again, ran them through Image Ingester and there they were!!!
wparsonsgisnet Posted November 6, 2008 Share #33 Posted November 6, 2008 Jaap, please detail your steps for this recovery. I would have said you were sunk, so it would be really useful to know how to do this. Also, did you buy a copy of this program and which one? Every now and then I get a scrambled image, like the example shown above. I'd like to know how to get out of trouble. tnx,
jaapv Posted November 6, 2008 Author Share #34 Posted November 6, 2008 Just as I said above, Bill. I used Rescue Pro, copied the files back onto another SD card, used Recue Pro again and copied the files to a folder, which I imported into Bridge using ImageIngester Pro. robsteve Posted November 7, 2008 Share #35 Posted November 7, 2008 GOT THEM !!!!!!:):). Copied them through Rescue Pro, copied them to another SD card, ran Rescue Pro again, ran them through Image Ingester and there they were!!! Jaap: PM me your mailing address and I will mail you the original CD for RescuePro. You should really have a copy of RescuePro with you when you travel so you can deal with any problems that may come up. Robert
