johnastovall Posted October 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) As part of a junkbook deal, I got a set of goggles for the Elmarit 135/2.8 but they were missing the lens cell. I did find where Leica had a catalog number for just the lens cell. I've now found a lens without goggles listed as a Visoflex mount 135/2.8 Elmarit. It doesn't have goggles and is in one of the Leica bubble cases. Is this just the len cell to use with the goggles?
Advertisement Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Hi johnastovall, Take a look here Visoflex Mount 135/2.8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted October 28, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2008 From what you have written, I suppose you have found a Tele Elmarit mounted on the short mount that allows it to be used on the Visoflex... probably the short mount is black, but it ought to be similar to this one (chrome, in the picture, and with an additional chrome extension ring): The lens unit can be easily unscrewed from the short mount, and screwed onto the goggled focusing unit : is this the item you have ? I mean, if you have the goggles only, they are unuseful : you must have the complete unit : helicoid mount with distance scale (and female thread in front, to screw on the above lens unti) with fitted goggles. Theodor Heinrichsohn Posted October 28, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 28, 2008 I have complete unit with helicod, mount and distance scale and female thread on front. What I have: I believe that lenses and mounts were custom matched to each other. The lens number is found inside the mechanical mount as well. As your mount and the lens are separate items, they could work well together, but there is no guarantee if the numbers are different. You must try that out at infinity and close up to see whether the lens focuses correctly. Using it on the Visoflex is OK in any case, as you focus visually. Good luck. jc_braconi Posted October 28, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2008 I have complete unit with helicod, mount and distance scale and female thread on front. What I have: John you are missing the optical part that Luigi was showing to you on his pict. You can find it in the second hand market 135/2,8 Elmarit Head - Foto Hobby Rahn GmbH
luigi bertolotti Posted October 28, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2008 John you are missing the optical part that Luigi was showing to you on his pict. You can find it in the second hand market 135/2,8 Elmarit Head - Foto Hobby Rahn GmbH Yes it is that... the description "item : 135/4 Elmar head" is surely a typo... it is undoubtly a 135 2,8 head, complete with the Viso adapter (black and "modern" version of the one shown on my pic). And the price is rather good... but the issue evidenced by Theo I agree that can exist ... my 135 2,8 mount indeed bears the number of the lens head (not scratched or engraved: typewritten on a white sticker) : the Tele Elmarit 2,8 is rather critical to be focused by RF at full aperture (that's the reason for I prefer the TE f4 on my M8...) and a uncorrect matching should be annoying... btw, John's mount is "old" (see the knurled ring) and Rahn's head is "new"... surely built several years one after the other.
