miami91 Posted November 7, 2008 Share #41 Posted November 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jeff, how is the 25mm feel on the dlux 4? what is the aspect ratio of the vf? Any other comments on its usefulness would be helpful. Mark Given that it's designed for use with rangefinder film cameras, I would have to assume the aspect ratio is 3:2. I almost always use the D-Lux 4 (and used the D-Lux 3) in 3:2 mode, so that's a good match. Basically, it works okay. Obviously the framing is not spot on, and there is parallax error (the CV doesn't have close range markings like some of the Leica viewfinders). But it's accurate enough for practical use. What I don't particularly care for is how close the brightlines are to the edge of the frame. In other words, I'd appreciate a less magnified view and a slight bit more room around the framelines. It's also somewhat cheaply made (plastic housing), so I think the Leica version will be an improvement on that. Jeff.

farnz Posted November 7, 2008 Share #42 Posted November 7, 2008 A Voigtlander 21 mm external VF came bundled with my CV 15 f/4.5 and the VF lines are a reasonable match for the D-Lux4 at 24 mm and it provides space outside the framelines. I was pleasantly surprised to find that when the D-Lux4 is used with the LCD blanked and AF a green focus confirmation dot still shows up on the blanked LCD. The green dot can be seen obliquely while looking through the VF although, as Rob points out, you have to trust that the AF system has nailed the right point of focus. Pete.
