steve_l Posted October 4, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems that, with the M8 (due to the 1.33), most of us will be revising our "lens stable" (especially the ones who, like me, sold everything a few years ago when Leica said there would never be a digital M...). Where are your sources for used lenses? Obviously EBay (which I prefer not to use for stuff like this, I like to know the person or see the lens first), B&H and Adorama have a few, and some get posted on the Rangefinder Forum classifieds. Any other sources for interesting lenses for the M8 (Leica, Canon, CV, ??)? I know I'm looking for some wide lenses to play with...

abrewer Posted October 4, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2006 Just about all of the on-line camera stores have a used and demo stock: Adorama, B&H, KEH, etc. Most of the smaller places like Popflash, Tamarkin, KB (not sure what their status is right now) can help you out as well. Many of them (including the one-man and Mom&Pop operations) advertise in the back pages of Popular Photography with lists of inventory and their phone numbers. One of my favorite places to look is at the online classifieds section of Fred Miranda (tremendous volume of equipment goes through that site), Photo.net, Photogon and Rod Galbraith's Trading Post. I've posted links to these places in the past, on the old Forum. Best strategy: find someone looking to sell what you want that's reasonably close driving distance and meet them at Starbucks or something to eyeball the merchandise before you buy with cash. Good luck. Thanks. Allan PS: If you need someone to deliver the items from stateside to you, I'm more than happy to volunteer to come to the Virgin Islands and hand them over to you! Especially in January!!! Thnx AB

wparsonsgisnet Posted October 4, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 4, 2006 Just for the record, I have successfully bought and sold Leica lenses and other stuff like viewfinders and accessories on eBay. I have been trading on eBay for about 7 years now and regard this as the most fairly priced and informed market in the world for merchandise of this sort. Just don't buy a bridge. It's not so hard to make sure that the guy on the other end has good merchandise. You can buy junk from anybody, after all.

earleygallery Posted October 4, 2006 Share #8 Posted October 4, 2006 Well, I'd start with a list of 'local' Leica dealers (Leica will furnish you with this), then the non Leica franchised dealers, the sites suggested, and also e bay - I've bought some real bargains and no major problems so far. When I have had a problem its either been resolved by the seller, or e bay/paypal/my credit card co (and its really only been a few times out of nearly 300 transactions - hey 1% aint bad).
