I was woundering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I am trying to get a lense CLA and perhaps the front element recoated as there are some cleaning and some other faint marks on it.

Is this possible, to recoat a lens? and does anyone know what this would cost roughly?

I live in Canada, and would rather not to have to send it over seas.

thanks

Hi Craig and welcome to the forum!

I can vouch highly for John van Stelten from Focal Point - excellent work. About a year ago he still had front elements for 2.8/50mm Elmars....

I am not sure how badly scratched your lens is or which one it is - best is to contact John via email. He does respond quite quickly.

Best,

Jan

Rick, Jan,

Thank you for the quick replies, I will try to get ahold of John at Focal point on Tuesday. It is great to know that we have someone highly recommended here.

Jan, thanks for the welcome to the forum, I just got my M3 and am waiting for my lens to arrive. It is the 5cm 2.0 collapsable one. I have to admit i am not to knowledgeable about this yet, but i did know that i want to shoot with a piece of history that shapped my passion.

I hope i can do it justice!

thanks again.

hello craig

my film M is also an m3, with a 50mm summarit f1.5 on it at the moment. great fun.

i think you know that leica and "history" go well together. my youngest lens is a voigtlander 12mm from today, but the others date from 1953 to 1982.

you're in for a great time, and the forum members will continue to provide answers to almost all questions. you may want to try the search function first to see what's already been written on any given subject. :)

good luck

rick
