axtel Posted October 10, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a V-LUX 1 that I purchased about 3 months ago. Everything works perfectly except when I download the files using the supplied USB cable. A 19.8 Mb RAW file takes 28 seconds to transfer. The camera is set to PC not PictBridge. I have tried several different memory cards and have used several computers all with XP on them (fast USB 2.0) and the result is the same. This is how it has been since the first day I used it. Is this normal for this camera? Do you think the supplied cable could be bad? Other cameras I used, download much faster(a few seconds for a 15Mb file). Advertisement Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Hi axtel, Take a look here V-LUX1 Slow USB Trasnfer. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pleeson Posted October 10, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2008 I always use a memory card reader, rather than risk dead battery problems. Much faster.

bjmike Posted October 11, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 11, 2008 Me too. With every camera I own. I don't think I even know where any of the USB cables are anymore. A card reader is the way to go.
axtel Posted October 11, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted October 11, 2008 Thanks for the replies. I guess I need to buy a card reader.
mjh Posted October 12, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 12, 2008 I have a V-LUX 1 that I purchased about 3 months ago. I have tried several different memory cards and have used several computers all with XP on them (fast USB 2.0) and the result is the same. This is how it has been since the first day I used it. Is this normal for this camera? It is. The USB interface of the V-Lux 1 doesn’t support USB 2.0 High-Speed, limiting throughput to effectively 0.7 MB/s.
