echorec Posted October 8, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 8, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Are these worth any more than a regular M7 or are they just looked at as "fabricated" collectibles, like all the crazy M6 variants? I have been offered a mint, never used, Scandinavian flag M7 but have no idea how much $$ I should offer. Thanks in advance,

I have been offered a mint, never used, Scandinavian flag M7 but have no idea how much $$ I should offer. Thanks in advance, Hello Gunnar, As they say - to each his own...... My feeling on those flagged M7's is well summed up in your first sentence - fabricated collectibles. In those years Leica's income depended quite heavily on those 'instant collectibles' and relatively quite a few were produced in both M6 and M7 models. I'd rather spend the money on a 'real' collectible. But - as they say - to each his own..... Just my humble opinoin. Best, Jan
echorec Posted October 9, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted October 9, 2008 Hello Jan, Thanks for the reply. So, I might buy it if the price is the same as a regular M7. I like the M7

ddp Posted October 9, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 9, 2008 In the last 10 years or so - what has Leica made that could be considered a real collectible?

I have been offered a mint, never used, Scandinavian flag M7 but have no idea how much $$ I should offer. Thanks in advance, I bought one three years ago and returned it because I didn't like the text that was on the camera - Test Unit, or something similar. My deciding view on it was that whilst it might have value for a collector if it was in mint condition, but a user with a flagon it would be of no interest to a collector and of less interest to a regular buyer. Better buy a non-Flag version in my opinion if you have the intention of trading it in future. Rolo
doubice Posted October 10, 2008 Share #8 Posted October 10, 2008 Hello Jan, Thanks for the reply. So, I might buy it if the price is the same as a regular M7. I like the M7 Gunnar, Even if the price was the same, I would still buy a 'regular' M7 - I just don't like the flag version's cosmetics. I like the M7 as well, have a 0.85 version that even in this digital world still gets used occasionally..... Best, Jan
