Use of polarising filter with lens hood

I've just acquired a 24mm Elmarit-R E60 which has the bayonet hood with little wheel which I understand is to control a polarising filter mounted on the lens. I do a have such a filter part number 13376 but it's much too thick to fit between the lens and hood. i presume that there is a slimmer polarising filter that will fit?

Rachel:

Isn't filter #13376 a screw-in filter?

I believe the filter designed for use with the 24mm Elmarit is filter #13372 - it's much thinner since it doesn't have threads - it should just snap in to the lens hood.

Leica Ser 8 pola filter. Very scarce. It is a hair bigger than other brands ser 8 and will rotate properly. Other brands will not work.

It also works in the shade for 35 4.0 Curtagon and 60 2.8, it is the same shade.

133272 is the part # for ser 8 Leitz pola.

Save yourself lots of works and get a 60mm screw in

Randy, Yes #13376 is a screw in filter. I had a closer look at the hood and it is part #12523 and it has inscribed on it R2.8/24 Sr 8 which confirms your and Tobey's comments.

JBA, it is a circular polariser.

Tobey, #13376 is very thick. I could use it as it is on the lens but I'd have to use it without a hood as anything on the front of that causes bad vignetting.

Thanks for all your comments.
