rob_x2004 Posted September 24, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 24, 2008 Tick "remember me" at the log in page.
mooky Posted September 25, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 25, 2008 The remember me doesn't work any longer for me either......maybe it has something to do with my 'updated' Firefox. It seems to have timer - after some time I have to re-load back in.
Tim B Posted September 25, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 25, 2008 This happens to me a lot. I can be browsing for ages from thread to thread and find that I have been logged out between threads. This is nothing new for me; nor is the non functioning of "remember me" - this has never worked for me in years. I am using a bog-standard MS Internet Explorer v.7 I have always found this forum's site a bit flakey. I'm surprised that it hasn't come up before from other users - this is why I haven't mentioned it, I suppose. I thought it was just me. Perhaps someone has an answer? rob_x2004 Posted September 25, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 25, 2008 I dont know. I always thought the problem actually exised with your connection to your ISP. With broadband your ISP remembers you and keeps your space open for you when your line drops out, otherwise you woudl be reconnecting all the time, but this place sees you terminate your connection. With the "remember me" the connection just "appears" seamless. Maybe other sites or forum templates do more to hold on to you. Maybe admin or a computer wizard can explain. Tim B Posted September 26, 2008 Share #6 Posted September 26, 2008 Thanks, Rob, anyway, for taking the trouble to respond. I'll look out for an admin. or tech. response. Tim
erl Posted September 26, 2008 Share #7 Posted September 26, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Awhile back, I complained of the same drop out effect. It was explained to me that checking the "remember me" box is necessary. After I checked it, I had no problems. I do think that different browsers respond differently to such things. Sorry I can't be of more help. A direct PM to Andreas (admin) may give further help to you. Adress your PM to 'admin'. He will respond very quickly. jaapv Posted September 26, 2008 Share #8 Posted September 26, 2008 Browser security settings or other security software like anti-spyware programs - your computer simply doesn't store the cookie. Try turning the security level down a bit. Actually one of my laptops thinks this site tries to store malware on it and asks what to do each time I log on. Mauribix Posted September 26, 2008 Share #9 Posted September 26, 2008 With the new firefox (even the old version did it, indeed) when you quit the browser you may be asked to clean the history and the personal data, try to disable that option and you shouldn't get the problem again. Then again it may be a software like CCleaner or any Temporary Internet Files cleaner that does that. If you're using Ccleaner try to find out in the settings list the box conerning the stored passwords, it's flagged by default if I'm not wrong. This should help (I hope). Best Maurizio, problem is that people (it happens to me atleast) get logged out DURING visiting forum, without quitting browser, even without leaving forum for visiting some other web site.
