kenneth Posted September 24, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to put forward a suggestion of a suitable venue for a meet. This could be easily combined with a visit to Saltaire village and the David Hockney Gallery at Salts Mill.
Advertisement Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Hi kenneth, Take a look here Bradford Museum of Photography F & TV Meet?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
elansprint72 Posted September 24, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 24, 2008 That would not be beyond the range of Lord Barton's XII. Sounds good to me.
stunsworth Posted September 24, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 24, 2008 Sounds good to me too. Will I need to bring my passport?
jmr Posted September 24, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 24, 2008 Sounds good to me too. Saltaire's worth a visit - if the light's not too flat.

kenneth Posted September 25, 2008 Author Share #8 Posted September 25, 2008 I decided to visit the Museum of Photography F & TV today as I live quite close to Bradford and on reflection I was disappointed. It really has gone downhill and much of the emphasis now seems to be aimed at children. As an example, on the lower ground floor they show the history of photography with cameras in glass cases dating from the earliest models to the digital age and there is no mention at all of Leica or any Leica cameras exhibited. The closest they come is a Reid Leica copy. In the light of this I would suggest that there is little point in arranging a day in the area unless anyone has any other ideas. It is not all bad news anyone who finds themselves in Bradford with an hour to kill could do worse than visit the Impressions Gallery directly opposite the Museum of Photography F & TV. This venue features work of Contemporary Photographers and entry is free but I am not sure it is the venue for a meet
stunsworth Posted September 25, 2008 Share #9 Posted September 25, 2008 Kenneth, it depends on what exhibitions are on. The permanent exhibitions are as you say mainly geared towards children. The cafe isn't too bad though, and there's always the chance of having a curry in town after a quick jaunt round the museum.

OK Steven let's run it up the flagpole, as the Yank's would say, and see who salutes it. We could also do Saltaire too- are we still going for Sunday October 26th? I am fairly flexible, but I might need a lift as my Bradford bus service do not run Sunday's
masjah Posted September 26, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 26, 2008 Kenneth 26th looks OK for me. (Thanks for the PM by the way - I've been away for a week of so.)
stunsworth Posted September 26, 2008 Share #12 Posted September 26, 2008 I might need a lift as my Bradford bus service do not run Sunday's No problem - as long as it doesn't have to involve a Landrover <grin>
kenneth Posted September 26, 2008 Author Share #13 Posted September 26, 2008 No problem - as long as it doesn't have to involve a Landrover <grin> Steven- Thank you, I live about 5 miles from Bradford centre in a village called Calverley Leeds LS28. I would recommend a visit to Little Germany whilst in Bradford centre which is dominated by dark satanic mill architecture. If we go to Saltaire village in the afternoon I can get a bus home from there and there is a superb Indian Restaurant called the Aagrah see Welcome to Aagrah
elansprint72 Posted September 26, 2008 Share #14 Posted September 26, 2008 I can't make the 26th, we will be in Poole but enjoy your day.
kenneth Posted September 27, 2008 Author Share #15 Posted September 27, 2008 Change of plan, I cannot make AM on the Sunday but I should be able to get along to Saltaire for the afternoon so, Steven, thank you for the offer for a lift but I will be able to hop on a bus and meet at Saltaire
masjah Posted October 21, 2008 Share #16 Posted October 21, 2008 If this is still on, I fear I now won't be able to make it - sorry. The main problem is trains on Sunday - diabolical - a two and a half hour journey from Hull, with not even a through train to Leeds - presumably working on the line! I fear that I just can't bring myself to spend five hours on a train for the return trip .
