dkCambridgeshire Posted September 21, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 21, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Came across a series of Tiffany adverts today all on the "Some Style Is Legendary" theme ... one of which is this one ... interesting ... not for the jewellery ... but for the Leica IIIC ?? or maybe its a IIIF ?? c. 1951 ish fitted with a screw thread Nippon Kogaku Tokyo 3.5cm f3.5 lens c.1949/50 ?? held by the model ... this lens was one of four Nikkors that made up Nikon's original postwar rangefinder programme. At that time Western journalists were using Nikkor lenses on Leica cameras , so nothing wrong in the match .... but ... one thing the set designer has overlooked is that this particular combination of camera and lens is not really usable without a separate viewfinder as the camera's viewfinder is only suitable for a 50mm lens. Not sure if the 3.5cm Nippon Kogaku lens would be rangefinder coupled? Apart from the "no viewfinder" blip it is an excellent portrait phptograph ... if you click on the "Browse Legendary Looks" link in the picture you should be able to see the rest of the series together with all the close-up pictures of the models' accessories. The actual advert appears in this weekend's copy of FT WEEKEND "Special Fashion Edition" magazine where there are some excellent model photos which could give any portrait photographers a few ideas .. especially the use of grain and movement. I really bought the paper to read the story about Warren Buffet and how he made his $$billions but the "How To Spend It" - 'a passion for fashion' magazine is well worth a look too ... The lens logo is more visible in the actual magazine . You may have to browse through the photos in the link to find the Leica portrait Tiffany & Co. | Home | United States Tiffany & Co. | Home | United States ... 8&siteid=
