marknorton Posted September 18, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I took a break driving from Ingolstadt in south-eastern Germany to London yesterday by stopping off in Solms and Wetzlar. Solms didn't yield much, no new brochures or price lists, a display of the Summarits as "new" products and when I asked Axel if the new products were already available, he told me "middle of October" and confirmed (of course) they will be there at Photokina. Even the factory shop which, in reality, is little more than a large walk-in cupboard/closet, was looking a bit down at heel, with the normal display models presumably being prepared for the show. Wetzlar was more useful and after a little nosing about, I found out where the new "Leitz Park" is situated, and here are some pictures of the construction site. Notice on the display board two other companies are mentioned: Uwe Weller Feinwerk Technik (Uwe Weller Feinwerktechnik, Wetzlar) and Via Optic (ViaOptic GmbH | Optic Design | Formenbau |*Spritzgusstechnik | Messtechnik | Montage) - these are two other companies in Dr Kaufmann's investment portfolio and Weller make lens barrels and other machined parts. There's no doubting Dr Kaufmann's ambition to make all this work. Welcome, dear visitor! wizard Posted September 18, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 18, 2008 I took a break driving from Ingolstadt in south-eastern Germany to London yesterday "Picked up your new Audi?" I was tempted to ask until I scrolled down the attached photographs. Which was when I realized that the drive was more likely meant to give your car a decent runout on hopefully not too crowded German autobahns . rick_dykstra Posted September 26, 2008 Share #13 Posted September 26, 2008 Which blue is that Mark? It looks a little too light to be Lapis, but maybe, under the clouds. What'cha get her up to? Thanks for the pics. Leica has a bright future and I'm very happy about that. Boy oh boy did I enjoy passing on the Leica announcement to the Canon boys on Tuesday morning. They said, "Bullsh*t" and dived for their dpreview links. hehe.
