Agent M10 Posted September 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the M8 forum, the question was asked: What is your most exciting lens? The rest of the Ms shouldn't be left out. One was shot with Efke 25 and the Noctilux. The other with 50 Summilux and FP4. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Hi Agent M10, Take a look here Most Exciting Lens? (for all the Ms). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
troyfreund Posted September 11, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2008 Probably my 21/2.8--so dramatic, such rich colors---it's definitely a lens that gets a reaction.
ddp Posted September 11, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 11, 2008 Is that the 50 ASPH? Nice look there BTW.
jackal Posted September 11, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2008 21mm F1.
Agent M10 Posted September 11, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted September 11, 2008 ddp, The first one is the Noctilux. Frankly, I was surprised by the difference between the two. I know the type of film comes into play, but the Lux has more contrast adjustment than the Noct photograph.
peter_n Posted September 11, 2008 Share #6 Posted September 11, 2008 For me, as a 24/2.8 user, the 24/1.4. Two stops faster would allow really interesting wide-open shots but I am concerned about the size. However, since I already use an external VF maybe I shouldn't worry. ddp Posted September 11, 2008 Share #7 Posted September 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's a fairly telling comparison. I have a Noctilux now, but have been wondering if the 50 ASPH might be better suited for my work.
NZDavid Posted September 12, 2008 Share #8 Posted September 12, 2008 I agree with Peter, the 24 ASPH is a brilliant lens. More speed would be nice but the cost! <sigh>
SteveYork Posted September 12, 2008 Share #9 Posted September 12, 2008 This is a meaningless question unless you define what you mean by "exciting" -- the most practical; versatile; unusual properties; optical greatness, ect.,
Agent M10 Posted September 12, 2008 Author Share #10 Posted September 12, 2008 This is a meaningless question unless you define what you mean by "exciting" -- the most practical; versatile; unusual properties; optical greatness, ect., Good grief. I suppose that we should put together an online glossary so members can provide answers to questions containing such ambiguous words as "exciting." Compared to this forum, practicing law in Texas is easy, unchallenging, effortless, painless, trouble-free, simple, facile, no sweat, a breeze, a piece of cake, duck soup, a snap,
Guest darkstar2004 Posted September 13, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 13, 2008 Most exciting lens? My vote goes to the Noctilux. Learning to make images at f/1.0 is interesting, challenging and intriguing; it is a learnng process. Bringing the capabilities of this lens to bear - to maximize its potential and to get it to do what it can do - opens up new photographic possibilities. You just have to shoot with a Noctilux at f/1 to "get it." If you can rent one and shoot with it for a couple of days, you will see what I mean when you develop your transparencies and/or negs.
