Rancher Posted September 9, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am really enjoying my Digilux 2 and I would like to get a monopod and maybe a tripod and a decent ball head, Any recommendations? Advertisement Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Hi Rancher, Take a look here tripod and/or monopod plus ball head recommendation for Digilux 2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 9, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2008 There are a large number of tripods out there. The lighter ones in the Gitzo "basalt" series are a nice compromise between weight, quality and price. For a ballhead, one of the lighter Really Right Stuff heads would fit the Digilux2 perfectly. I am not sure that a monopod would be very practical for a light, compact camera like the Digilux2, I see those more as an aid for long, heavy combos. dcarter Posted September 9, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 9, 2008 Hi, This is the setup I purchased for my D2 and I love it....Light weight, ccompact, nice quality, and a pretty good value....I had the gitzo in past years and it is a nice tripod too. Definately more $$$$, so I found this setup and I couldn't be happier.. I'm posting a link to B and H so you can check out the detailed information. Tripod: . ajthornbury Posted September 9, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2008 Hi, I use a Manfrotto Modo tripod with my D2, it's quite light but strong enough for the D2 because, unlike a DSLR there is no mirror vibration on it. The modo is well built, sturdy enough for the D2, and reasonable cost. The head is a pistol grip type and much easier to use and adjust than pan and tilt or ball types. Alan J. poynterama Posted September 10, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 10, 2008 A second vote for Manfrotto Modo- I have their monopod for my D2 and find it very useful. I usually only use my D2 at ISO 100 so in low light situations I can usually get reasonably good results going town to 1/4s with the monopod. It's nice and light too!! sebastian Posted September 11, 2008 Share #6 Posted September 11, 2008 And a third vote for the Modo. Best combination of weight/steadiness I've ever run across. Very flexible with three leg spread angles, reversible center post and more. I use mine with a DL3 and I'm very happy with it. Only bad part is more plastic than most Manfrotto's, but nothing's broken yet.
