The lighter ones in the Gitzo "basalt" series are a nice compromise between weight, quality and price. For a ballhead, one of the lighter Really Right Stuff heads would fit the Digilux2 perfectly. I am not sure that a monopod would be very practical for a light, compact camera like the Digilux2, I see those more as an aid for long, heavy combos. ajthornbury Posted September 9, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted September 9, 2008 Hi, I use a Manfrotto Modo tripod with my D2, it's quite light but strong enough for the D2 because, unlike a DSLR there is no mirror vibration on it. The modo is well built, sturdy enough for the D2, and reasonable cost. The head is a pistol grip type and much easier to use and adjust than pan and tilt or ball types. Alan J. I usually only use my D2 at ISO 100 so in low light situations I can usually get reasonably good results going town to 1/4s with the monopod. It's nice and light too!! Very flexible with three leg spread angles, reversible center post and more. I use mine with a DL3 and I'm very happy with it.
