Resizing Photos for the Forum

Recommended Posts

I have a action setup in PS CS3 to do this.

It converts the image from whatever color space it is in to sRGB then applies a unsharp mask, where you cna make changes to it if you like or turn it off, then converts the image from 16bit to 8bit, then down sizes the image to 900 wide by whatever is the constrain Propartions are, for M8 images that is 900x605, it also Resamples the image using Bicubic Sharper, recommended for downsizes, and changes the DPI to 240, I normally use 300DPI for prints, then saves it as a Jpeg giving you the option to rename the image and select the quality.

For posting on this site the image must not be bigger the 940x940 pixels but for another site I visit the max size is 900x900 so I use the 900 as my standard. The max size of the file can't be larger then 244KBs?. You can control that when saving the image by changing the quality of the Jpeg.

If you like to try my action I'd be happy to send it to you.

Actually it is 2 actions, one for posting and one for uploading to my photo site. Each action can be run by themselves. I Was going to include it in this post but I don't think I can.

Someone , not me, moved it to the Customer forum. It's applicable to both digital and film users, of course.
