jaapv Posted September 6, 2008 Author Share #21 Posted September 6, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) So take as much as you can cram into the biggest bag that you're allowed on the small plane(s). If wildlife is a big part of your shooting, you're poorly-supported. If anything happens to the 105-280 or the R9 or the DMR, you're cooked. I would hunt up a 280/4.8 or 400/6.8 in Visoflex mount...which could be used either with the M8 or R9 with a simple adaptor. Yes- that is why I have the TE 135. With OTZFO and stacked converters I can get up to an emergency 400/ 11 In the tropics that is usable in the day. If anything happens to the DMR I am down to 135. I own a Viso/ 400. However, to double up on the long end- I run into weight-volume limits. Not that the wildlifeshots with the M8/135 are bad but it is limiting. M8/135, from a vehicle. A bit close for an approach on foot.

nikau Posted September 7, 2008 Share #22 Posted September 7, 2008 I was in your situation a year ago and ended up taking my R6.2 (or in your case, the DMR) with 35-70, 80-200 and 400mm 6.8 dismantled. Never missed the M8 at all. In hindsight, in my particular situation, I could have left the 35-70 at home and taken a 28mm instead. Took at least 50 % of my shots on the 400.
