bill Posted August 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 27, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Stupidly, I have just upgraded to the latest version of Firefox (it never pays to be at the bleeding edge of anything!) The Forum now scrolls very slowly - there is a delay on starting and stopping, and scroll itself is about half as fast as it used to be. Other sites - BBC, Flickr, Go Wander, Amazon, eBay, etc - appear unaffected. Regards, Bill

bill Posted August 27, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted August 27, 2008 Interesting, Rick. Thanks for the prompt feedback. I wonder if it is operating system related? Regards, Bill

rickp13 Posted August 27, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 27, 2008 hello bill if there's an operating system factor, i'm still on windows xp sp2. there i'm more conservative than with browsers etc., and probably won't move to vista until XXX is announced. safer that way. have you done all the usual stuff - windows cleanup, defrag etc recently? that normally brings performance up for a while. cheers rick

spydrxx Posted August 31, 2008 Share #8 Posted August 31, 2008 Weighing in as well. I haven't had any problems since the latest Firefox upgrade with this or any other site. I'm on XP Home Edition sp3, with an older machine.
ndjambrose Posted September 6, 2008 Share #9 Posted September 6, 2008 I installed Firefox 3 on an XP machine. I noticed an immediate performance difference; everything ran much more slowly. The browser was slower to redraw its windows, websites rendered more slowly, there was an overall feeling of sluggishness. I've lived with it for a couple of weeks in the hope of an update being available, but am minded to uninstall it.
Guest tvleeskr Posted September 6, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 6, 2008 I installed Firefox 3 on an XP machine. I noticed an immediate performance difference; everything ran much more slowly. I've lived with it for a couple of weeks in the hope of an update being available, but am minded to uninstall it. I moved back to IE, reluctantly, but still... FF3 is not only slow but it does not properly support the gmail GUI. I lost the bold/normal font to distinguish read mail from unread mail. thom
peter_n Posted September 6, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 6, 2008 I'm still on Firefox 1.5. And I'm in the software business...
spylaw4 Posted September 6, 2008 Share #12 Posted September 6, 2008 No problems with 3.0.1 at all so far.
Adrian Lord Posted September 7, 2008 Share #13 Posted September 7, 2008 I regret upgrading too - just seems unnecessary and adds more clutter, especially hate the bookmarks which have got over complex and take up space.
