ijporter Posted September 27, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Farina is a 'ghost-town' in the South Australian outback. It was established in the 1800s because a rare wet spell had given people the idea that wheat (hence 'flour' and 'farina') could be grown there. Alas, the country resumed its normal weather patterns soon afterwards and the new town was doomed. Today the ruins provide a stopover for 4WDers on their way to the Oodnadatta, Strezlecki or Birdsville Tracks. A good hot bath is but a dream in this territory! stuny Posted September 27, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 27, 2006 Ian - Fabulous shot full of mystery, lovely colors, balance and a feeling of vastness one so often gets in much of the Outback (think NT, and WA's Kimberly).
