Farina is a 'ghost-town' in the South Australian outback. It was established in the 1800s because a rare wet spell had given people the idea that wheat (hence 'flour' and 'farina') could be grown there. Alas, the country resumed its normal weather patterns soon afterwards and the new town was doomed. Today the ruins provide a stopover for 4WDers on their way to the Oodnadatta, Strezlecki or Birdsville Tracks. A good hot bath is but a dream in this territory!
