cbretteville Posted August 18, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) A question for the collective: I've had a IIIf for about a year, but it was unusable, only one workable shutter speed. A trip to DAG it is now like new. With the camera and 5cm Summitar I got a Nookyhesum closeup device that I've been wanting to try out. I have no instructions for it but have read a little here and there. However, there is one question I haven't been able to answer is this: Do I keep the Summitar collapsed or do I extend it? Instinctively I would guess the answer is 'yes', but an article in Viewfinder made me wonder. Thanks, - Carl

bill Posted August 18, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 18, 2008 Carl, it's a fair question. I have a NOOKY, rather than a NOOKY-HESUM, that I have been using on my IID, so my comments relate to that, but may help. Since the lens (Elmar 5cm) bayonets into the NOOKY with the same bayonet as would usually be used to lock the lens in it's extended position, it can by definition only be used "collapsed". The focussing mount simply "floats" and plays no part in focussing. I would *assume* something similar to be the case with the NOOKY-HESUM. I hope this helps, Regards, Bill
cbretteville Posted August 18, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted August 18, 2008 Bill, Thanks, the same seems to be the case for the nooky-hesum. Hadn't noticed the bayonett inside the device. Cheers, - Carl
