stevelap Posted August 9, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I see that the publishers of Nikon Rumors have launched Leica Rumors. No use of the Leica logo, sensibly, but the pages make liberal use of red type. Nothing new, just a re-hash of various rumours from other sites. Advertisement Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Hi stevelap, Take a look here Leica Rumors. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted August 9, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 9, 2008 Some of these rumours are truly ancient.
stevelap Posted August 9, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted August 9, 2008 Yes, indeed. Their Nikon Rumors site similarly follows rather than leads.
stunsworth Posted August 9, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 9, 2008 Rumours? A new 'low cost' digital 'CL' with a 1.6 crop factor 10mp sensor and a new miniaturised M mount and lenses specifically made for a sensor with that crop factor. Possibly including a collapsible 35mm to make the system 'pocketable' R10 will only be a design study/prototype. New .95 35mm M Noctilux New 16mm f2.8 or f3.5 M lens M8 to ship as Mk II with quieter shutter, maybe new sensor D-Lux 4 rebadged LX-3 No mention of four thirds products Let's see how many of those turn out to be incorrect - probably all of them <grin>. veraikon Posted August 9, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 9, 2008 There will be exact 38 days for speculation about Leica-Rumors - use it !. On Sept. 15th there will be a press conference by Leica with the presentation of future plans. And on Sept. 16th you can read them in LFI .
sparkie Posted August 9, 2008 Share #6 Posted August 9, 2008 > New .95 35mm M Noctilux THAT would be an interesting lens.. if it wasn't overweight and a heavy chunk of glass
andybarton Posted August 9, 2008 Share #7 Posted August 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) A 50mm version is more likely, I'd say. A 24 Summilux is coming.
sparkie Posted August 9, 2008 Share #8 Posted August 9, 2008 A 50mm version is more likely, I'd say. A 24 Summilux is coming. Really? -- a 24/1.4 ?
andybarton Posted August 9, 2008 Share #9 Posted August 9, 2008 So they say (One of our party saw something very interesting on a tour of the Solms factory a couple of months ago)
Guest leica_mage Posted August 9, 2008 Share #10 Posted August 9, 2008 A 50mm version is more likely, I'd say. A 24 Summilux is coming. 28 Summilux, Andy. And the 0.95 will be a 50mm lens - 35mm refers to the film format.
sparkie Posted August 9, 2008 Share #11 Posted August 9, 2008 hmmmmm... i would have been impressed with a 28/1.4 to be honest.. but a 24/1.4.. thats even more challenging for lens designers to get down to a compact package. if true (the 24/1.4).. thats means a 28/1.4 is easily achievable but not looking forward to the price tag
andybarton Posted August 9, 2008 Share #12 Posted August 9, 2008 28 Summilux, Andy. And the 0.95 will be a 50mm lens - 35mm refers to the film format. It was a 24 f1.4 that was being discussed at Hessenpark. I was there. One of our party saw the spec sheet for it. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/56309-infos-forum-meeting-2008-a.html#post585077 I think that Steve's rumour above refers to a 35mm focal length. It's going to be an interesting month or so
sparkie Posted August 9, 2008 Share #13 Posted August 9, 2008 yeh.. i'm looking forward to photokina.. should be interesting but i think next year will be more so.. if a compact M, CM-D might be on the cards..

earleygallery Posted August 9, 2008 Share #17 Posted August 9, 2008 "Leica are working on a new concept, a small camera with high quality lenses some collapse to make it truly pocketable. It will use a new kind of format unique to Leica but based on 35mm, which may become THE standard for all such cameras in the future"

stevelap Posted August 9, 2008 Author Share #20 Posted August 9, 2008 Perhaps I should apologise here, I didn't mean to start another rumour thread, honest! But just to highlight the launch of a new rumour site for those that might be interested. With hindsight, I probably should have entitled the thread 'New Leica Rumor Website'. All good, harmless pre-photokina 'silly season' fun though:) .
