andybarton Posted August 7, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone got any suggestions for a good, reliable and quality ink system for an R800, please? B&W using coloured inks is just too wasteful and very difficult to achieve. Thanks.

scho Posted August 7, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2008 I use this workflow for pure carbon B&W printing: 100% Carbon Black and White Digital Printing
stunsworth Posted August 8, 2008 Share #3 Posted August 8, 2008 Andy, have you tried printing b&w using the Quattone RIP? QuadToneRIP Overview The R800 is one of the supported printers.
cbretteville Posted August 8, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 8, 2008 Andy, I've tried K7 neutral inks on the R800. They give great results. The only drawback for me is that I prefer Luster type papers to matte. The K7 print on matte papers only. Haven't used them enough to say anything about clogging, but uless you're dedicating a printer to B&W work you'll waste a lot of ink swapping between colour and B&W. EPSON 1800/R800 There is also MediaSteet's Generations Quad inks. They print on matte and luster papers. I've used them in my Epson 2100 (that I bought 2nd had for the purpose of having a dedicated B&W printer) and I like the results. Their neutral inks are on the warmer side, but but neutral gray. What I don't like is that the ink clogs up easily making it a pain to get started. I think I have to buy new refillables now that I haven't printed for a while. (Guess they should be kept in an airtight container between uses.) Not at all sure I'll buy more once the bult bottles I have are empty. Generations QuadBlack (GQ & GQ2) For both you need to use Quadtone RIP. Cheers, - Carl
