Iron Flatline Posted August 7, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone. How do I evaluate these two lenses against one another? I have a 5D and have been shooting Canon's 45mm TS lens, so I want to buy one. Assuming I can mount the Leica lens on an EOS body, how can I figure out which is better? Anyone here have any experience with one or both of those lenses? Anything particular to look out for?
Advertisement Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Hi Iron Flatline, Take a look here Leica R 28mm Super Angulon TS vs. Canon TS-E 24mm L. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dritz Posted August 7, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2008 The Leica is just a shift lens. No tilt. It's made by Schneider, who probably also makes one in a Cannon mount. I have the Leica but use it so seldom that I have no confirmed opinion of its optical quality. Sure is a beauty, though! If you need a tilt-shift, then the Cannon is your answer. Iron Flatline Posted August 7, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted August 7, 2008 Another obvious difference is the Leica L lens is $1150, the Leica is $4150. That's quite a delta... I don't really use tilt right now, but shift matters a lot to me...
