earleygallery Posted August 4, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 4, 2008 The Harman papers give interesting results - they are available in 'sample' packs of 5 sheets so give them a try.
Agent M10 Posted August 4, 2008 Share #3 Posted August 4, 2008 The Crane Museo Rag seems to always be the favorite when set in a group, even over the Harman and Ilford Gallerie.

Kind regards Martin NOERGAARD FOTO I tried the Ilford Baryta Gold Fiber Silk paper for B&W on my i9500 printer and although the paper profile says it works with the Lucia inks it chroma'd like crazy and frankly looked like crap. I really like the Hanamuhle photo rag and museum etching papers for B&W and you can buy a trial pack of Canon/Hanamuhle 13X19 paper and try both for yourself. Chrizzlie Posted August 8, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 8, 2008 I recently tried the new Hahnemühle Baryta with my Quad Black 2100... the blackest black I've ever seen, outstanding results all over the place. Before that I used (and still do for some work) Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White and Epson Enhanced Matte (aka Archival Matte). / Christian
Photoskeptic Posted August 9, 2008 Share #6 Posted August 9, 2008 I'm now printing exclusively with the Harmon papers. Best D-max by far and no metamarizing. The only problem I've found is due to the humid climate I live in - the papers have to be dry-mounted to keep them flat otherwise they will develop "waves" inside the frame. Also you need to handle the larger sizes carefully as the paper will "dent" easily. But the results with these papers are stunning.
martinvath Posted August 10, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted August 10, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Canon i9950 uses Dye ink, and both Canon and Ilford recomend Pigment ink for printing on Fine Art/Baryta. Have You experience on printing with Dye ink printers on these papers? I know that the Dye ink fades faster than Pigment ink, but is that the only difference? Mark Pope Posted August 10, 2008 Share #8 Posted August 10, 2008 I´ve had some nice results with Permajet´s FB papers with the Permajet CIS on an Epson 2400.. They do a ¨normal¨ and a ¨warmtone¨ version. They do have a habit of curling though, Which can be a pain and can cause paper feed problems. Not good at £1 a sheet. martinvath Posted August 13, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted August 13, 2008 Non original inkjetpapers are hard to find here in Denmark, so I went out and bought a box of original Canon Fine Art Paper "Photo Rag" which is actually made by Hahnemühle. Just printed some bw portraits and I think they look quite nice:o) I used the matte paper ICC profile and got very black blacks and fine graduation. Think I will experiment a little more with this paper. As far as I could find out, the only problem is that they will fade faster than if I had a pigment ink printer. Mattis Posted August 31, 2008 Share #11 Posted August 31, 2008 I absolutely love the Crane Museo Silver Rag. When I need a brighter white I use the Hahnemühle Baryta.
kodaktrix Posted September 1, 2008 Share #12 Posted September 1, 2008 I am very satisfied with Calumets "Brilliant Museum Satin White", after I tried some baryt like ones from different companies including Hahnemuehle. Regards Oliver
