stuny Posted August 2, 2008 Share #3 Posted August 2, 2008 Paul - You really have a way with contrast, tonal range and tonal richness. Excellent.
PaulL Posted August 2, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted August 2, 2008 Thanks for the comments. Now if only I could work out what Im doing that you like about the " tonal range and contrast" At the end of the day its just what pleases me.. Generaly something along these lines.. Scan too 16 bit tiff.Open in CS2 convert to LAB space. Throw away the a and b channels, convert to grey scale. Duplicate the image and apply multiply, back this off with opacity or use a mask if needed. Sometimes add some levels and some dodging and burning, Apply contrast/brightness layer if needed but not to much as sharpening will also give contrast. Crop to 300 ppi Add a small amount of sharpening useing Niks Sharpener V2.0 LAB setting dropping this back too minimal level useing opacity or sometimes selectively painting on a mask. Drop to 8 bit and save as jpeg highest setting. As you can see Im not a straight from the camera guy.
wda Posted August 5, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 5, 2008 A great event for unusual pictures well suited to mono treatment. It helps to throw back the years!
