audidudi Posted July 30, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted July 30, 2008 Does anybody understand what is going on? Â Unfortunately, this is the first sign that the sensor is failing. Depending upon where you're located and the serial number of your particular camera, Panasonic may be willing to repair it for free ... do some searching on this forum and you can find more info about both sensor failure and Panasonic's goodwill warranty. fuerst Posted July 30, 2008 Author Share #3 Â Posted July 30, 2008 Arghhh.. So it is as I feared. Well, mine certainly falls well within the serial number range. Â Thanks for the prompt reply. Â Bojan
jtharvie Posted July 30, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted July 30, 2008 This happened to my LC1 early this year 2008. I contacted my local Panasonic sevice center and it was repaired at no cost within 4 weeks. I am in Canada. Hope this helps. Cheers, jth

fuerst Posted August 7, 2008 Author Share #7  Posted August 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd like to report the best customer service experience I ever had with anybody. On August 1, I called Panasonic Canada and explained my problem. The customer service agent took my information and promptly send me an e-mail so that I can print out a prepaid, fully insured Canada XPress post label. While we were waiting for the e-mail to arrive, we chatted about cameras and what a fabulous piece of kit LC1 is.  I took my camera to the post office the same day. It arrived back today, August 7. Fixed and in working order. The whole thing cost me precisely $0.00. I also found this photo on the card  All I can tell you is that the next piece of electronics I buy is going to be Panasonic.  Fabulous service.  Bojan
d_lague Posted August 7, 2008 Share #8 Â Posted August 7, 2008 I wish we had that level of service in the USA. Â I love my camera, but had to wait for weeks to get it fixed and pay over $400.00 because it was out of warranty in the USA.
farnz Posted August 7, 2008 Share #9 Â Posted August 7, 2008 Great news, Bojan! Â Won't it be great when Leica is able to match that level of service as I feel sure they'd like to. Â Pete.
Thomas Edwards Posted August 8, 2008 Share #10 Â Posted August 8, 2008 Won't it be great when Leica is able to match that level of service as I feel sure they'd like to. Â ...fwiw, leica usa's level of service appears to have improved vastly of late (at least for its sports optics products)...my ultravid binoculars were completely serviced recently (rubber covering replaced + cleaned + adjusted) in under two weeks under the company's lifetime passport warranty program...
