sportsmen Posted July 29, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello , I'm new to this site and leica cameras, so i'd greatly appreciate help. Sorry for my descriptive writing and jungle english. I bought leicaflex sl + summicron - r 50mm 1.2 camera with no working light meter. I found that light meter is responding somewhat, but setting aperture did not affect it. The problem is that the lens aperture triangle thing is not set above the pin on the camera body. In fact, when the lens is mounted, it is set up above where the body pin is down below. As it is rotated 180 degrees! Also, viewfinder seems a little blurry. can someone help me? JBA Posted July 29, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 29, 2008 Sounds like you have a 1-cam lens. This requires stop-down metering with the Leicaflex SL. More information here: Photoethnography.com - Photoethnography Equipment
wildlightphoto Posted July 30, 2008 Share #3 Posted July 30, 2008 I agree, this sounds like a 1-cam lens. The SL needs 2- or 3-cam lenses for full-aperture metering. Is the entire viewfinder blurry, including the meter needle and shutter speeds? If so you might need a diopter correction lens. If the blurriness is only in a few areas it could be prism de-silvering.
sportsmen Posted July 30, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted July 30, 2008 Thanks! I think I'll use sunny 16 for now. Yes, the entire viewfinder is blurry. And it has some brownish elyptical dot marks. Can you explain me about diopter correction lens? Do you think it is set up for different eye dioptry? I live in Belgrade, Serbia so replacement parts are out of the question. sportsmen Posted August 3, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted August 3, 2008 ok, i have solved the problem by pushing the eyepiece lens in. now it's sharp.
JBA Posted August 3, 2008 Share #6 Posted August 3, 2008 Do you still see the brownish marks? If so, it could be because the prism has begun to desilver. This is an issue with the Leicaflexes, which are now over 30 years old.
