On Sunday night I wandered around Vienna's annual Afrika Tage Festival on the Donauinsel. These images were taken handheld, with only the benefit of the electric lights in the stalls. Technically they're not up to much, but maybe they impart something of the atmosphere of this lovely event.

Tonight I'm going back for more - a Senegalese band is playing. I'll be taking a tripod this time.

Atmosphere aplenty. Lovely work. Nice control with those hot, bare lights. Looks like fun.

Hello Ben,

Thanks for the kind remarks. It is fun! Our friends' two year old daughter played on every bongo and manically tapped out tunes on every bone and stick xylophone she could find 'till dragged away close to midnight! (I know, irresponsible parenting ...).

There's great music everywhere and a very welcoming feel to the whole event - If you're reading this in Vienna - its just a tram ride to Floridsdorfer Brücke !

Some more Afrika Tage atmospherics. The band is Ndiaga Diop Be One Afric from Senegal

First, a little global warming:

Next, energy generation, Senegalese-style:

... and finally, a little ball of energy, caught up in the power of music and colour and joy:

First three with 90mm Summarit and the last with 24mm Elmarit. All handheld - truly the M8's forte.
