UPDATE: Instead of meeting at 12:00pm for lunch, and then going out to shoot, we will meet at 9-9:30am for registration, and then reconvene at 12pm for lunch.

Last year 13 forum members and a few friends met in Santa Monica for The Uno Challenge. A round of appluase to Jonas Yip, title holder of "The Uno Challenge 2007 Winner".

This year we will meet on Saturday, October 11th, between 9-9:30am at the Little Tokyo Shopping Center, following registration, participants have two hours to shoot 36 photos. At 12:00PM we will meet for lunch at Sojin Restaurant (located inside the Little Tokyo Shopping Center) in Downtown Los Angeles.

I would like to thank Andy Barton of the The One Challenge, our European counterpart, for creating and maintaining the wonderful event that is the model the Uno Challenge aspires to.

The rules are simple: we meet, register and pay a 10 dollar entry fee, and then have 2 hours to shoot 36 photos. Participants have until November 1st to submit 1 of their 36 photos. The images will be posted to a thread in the Photo Forum no later than November 7th. All forum members are invited to vote, and the winner is awarded the collected entry fees and the title of "The Uno Challenge 2008 Winner".

ALL are welcome, but kindly RSVP in the form of a reply to this thread, so that appropriate reservations can be made at the restaurant.

I thought I had previously RSVP'd to this thread, but Philip notified me that I hadn't. And indeed that appears to be the case.

Anyway, as reigning "Uno Challenge Winner", I plan on joining in the fun and, uh, "defending my title".

I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the Challenge. This will be my first time.

I have never been to Little Tokyo - I did go to "Big" Tokyo several times while I was in the Navy in the early 70's to see the Imperial Palace and other sites. Also, I enjoyed taking pictures of Japanese fishermen going out to sea near the hospital were I was stationed.

If anyone wants to travel with me to the Challenge, let me know via this thread.

Point of order, Mr Chairman.

Bill Palmer has to take all the credit for the idea, not me ;)

Have a great day on the 11th :)

Sorry.... at the last minute I couldn't make it due to family/b-day stuff getting moved around. I had been looking forward to joining in, but the logisitics were against me.

Hope it went well!
