hnaa Posted July 22, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everybody, well, I finally got me an M6, and a black beauty at that!! Just had it serviced and everything. I use an M8 regularly, with a 28mm summicron ASPH, and a newly acquired 50mm summilux pre-asph, latest model. These lenses will ofcourse work great on my M6, but I think that some lenses work best on digital, and some lenses work best on film. So, I'm looking for a stay-on 99% of the time lens for my M6, to make an analogue, old-school kit, you could say. I think maybe I would get an old 50mm summicron, some of them should be great. Which version summicron would you get? Or maybe an old Canon or Nikon 50mm rangefinder lens, some of those should be quite good as well. There seems to be so many great old lenses to choose from, which one should I get? I know this may all sound a bit excentric, me already having a 50mm summilux and all, but, hey, rationality isn't part of the equation for me:)

earleygallery Posted July 22, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 22, 2008 benefit of the doubt, if you want a different look buy an early Elmar or Summar lens.
think Posted July 22, 2008 Share #5 Posted July 22, 2008 Another benefit of the doubt response...I would say a 35 Summicron V2, 3, or 4. I happen to like my V2 best.

peter_n Posted July 27, 2008 Share #7 Posted July 27, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use a type 1 "rigid" Summicron which is a wonderful lens if you're planning on shooting in b&w. However I can't stand the tab/infinity lock on it so I'll replace it with the DR version of the same lens. Both these Summicrons are excellent, sharp but with that old vintage look. Take a look on flickr for images and use the tags rigid & DR summicron: Starter rigid thread: Flickr: Search Starter DR thread: Flickr: Search
