stephanvdz Posted July 18, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello All, I own two IIIc with red curtains... and both have the same problem ; the red curtains have black spots of sticky rubber, and sometimes it sticks the shutter. Both IIIc are the real items, with a serious life behind those curtains (weel used) and one has even the mechanism for the synchro-flash fitting (the one that was on a special sole). That one was bought with a period Zeiss 1,5 T sonnar (original wartime production for leica) and because of that lens (happy surprise when I saw it was a red curtain ... at home). I would love to use them... as they should (an non worked camera is a dead camera)... but I don't want to loose the red curtain authenticity ? Is it possible to find a nice red curtain replacement product or do I have to put black ones and keep the remains as relics ? (the serial numbers are ok for red curtains of course. Advertisement Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Hi stephanvdz, Take a look here what to do with a leica IIIc with sticky red curtains ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted July 19, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 19, 2008 You need to get them CLA'd It may be possible to clean the curtains if they're not damaged, otherwise I'm sure I've seen red curtain material - speak to one of the specialist indy Leica repairers (not Leica).
