Advertisement Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Hi jmr, Take a look here Waiting at Florian's. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted September 23, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2006 I don't really want to sidetrack your rather nice photograph, but I once sat outside this cafe and carefully perused the drinks card. After much careful consideration I chose the cheapest drink available - which as I remember was a small bottle of water whose price was more or less the annual GDP of a small African country. Within seconds of ordering this drink the bloody piano trio packed up and left for another gig somewhere in northern Italy, no doubt with millions of lire in the violinist's case. I on the other hand was left to sip a tepid glass of water surrounded by pigeons and Japanese tourists. Perhaps things will be more enjoyable next time. jmr Posted September 23, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted September 23, 2006 Steve, the players outside Florian's usually play more or less continuously throughout the day - I think there are at least two shifts. I've seen them play past midnight, even after the café has finished service. You pay an extra €5 per person to sit and watch. Not too bad considering they're rather good and you don't get moved on even once you've finished your drinks.
stunsworth Posted September 24, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 24, 2006 John, that's what I would have expected, but when I was there they really did pack up and leave without replacements appearing. I had to catch the train back to Bologna, so it couldn't have been that late.
