No substitute for real life experience against a reviewer. Several areas clarified, but if only the M7 was in Black Paint outside a la carte
Advertisement Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Hi chris_livsey, Take a look here M7/mp. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
StS Posted July 22, 2008 Share #22 Posted July 22, 2008 To add one irrevelant point - in my view the MP looks better, more functional. Well, one can always put some black tape over the red dot (it seems to attract looks).... Stefan

kenneth Posted July 27, 2008 Share #24 Posted July 27, 2008 Chris- 'The last version of the M6, the current M6 TTL, has an OFF position on the shutter speed dial. This prevents the shutter release from accidentally depleting the meter battery, (such as when its pressed against whilst in a camera bag) " My M6 is a mid 90's version without the off switch but if I set the dial to B that disables the metering system which is the same as having an off switch- anyway- works fine for me and without doubt I find the M6 Classic the finest camera I have owned. I am also very happy to be, as a friend refers to me, a Digital Neanderthal.
rob_x2004 Posted July 27, 2008 Share #25 Posted July 27, 2008 This prevents the shutter release from accidentally depleting the meter battery. Just out of interest, I hava a 6.2 which started chewing batteries and finally wound up depleting fresh batteries in about ten or fifteen seconds. Have a newly returned from solms MP, and rather than its normal battery usage, which was weather dependent, it will now sit for weeks on a low battery warning. So to me it also seems battery usage is fairly dependent on the state of the meters electonics.
ChadHahn Posted July 28, 2008 Share #26 Posted July 28, 2008 I have a late model M6 TTL. It has the updated battery circuitry. I almost never turn it off and I almost never have problems with the battery. One time I think something sat on top of the button and drained the battery but since I carry a few extra sets of batteries in my camera bag it wasn't that much of a problem. Just leave the camera on is my suggestion. Chad
