Martin -

Very close, as was Dan. John actually guessed it, but for some reason he deleted his answer.

I deleted an R10 TDI - but this is NOT a TDI. This is an older R8. Canon has not been on the car in several years... and the R10 has dual roll hoops and cowling.

These were a few of the first shots taken of the R10 on North American soil.

Nice shot of Dindo. :)

I remember when these things had wheels to steer with. ;)

Yes, but now they can change out all the cockpit's electronics by simply changing the steering wheel. LOL - I'm sure there's a "push-to-pass" button there somewhere.

Wow! An even more knowledgeable group than I expected, now making me doubt my own information on the car. I'll return to the Audi display room (no direct sales -- just publicity for Audi, just as with the Ferrari/Maser room 9 blocks north of here) later today to ask precisely which Audi R this is and report back.

Let me know if you don't have any success. I will see Dindo or Pirro tomorrow... Pirro will surely know.

My apologies for misleading folks on this. I returned to the showroom and confirmed it is an R8. John’s mention of the single rollover hoop also confirms it.

BTW: The car in John's first photo and the car in my photos is the same chassis with different body work changes, such as the fenders (wings) with or without louvers, wing construction, the taillights and paint details. The car is beautifully prepared.
