stunsworth Posted July 13, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2008 Hi Adrian, I was there too, though I don't think we met. I assume you're talking about Rolo and Falstaff. I bumped into them about 20 minutes after I arrived. A couple of snaps from today here... http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/people/58414-i-m-bored.html http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/people/58417-small-but-perfectly-formed.html http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/people/58412-proud-driver.html
Rolo Posted July 13, 2008 Share #3 Posted July 13, 2008 Hello to the two forum members I met at Tabley today. I never got round to getting the M6 out. Thats the trouble with taking out four cameras with you !! Once I've got this new scanner sorted out I will post some pictures. Adrian Hi Adrian, Good to meet you today at the Manchester Leica Day Out at the Tabley Steam Fair. You did seem to have your hands full with camera gear. Falstaff didn't have enough room for more than 2 M7's as in that searing heat he decided to lug a double thick fleece and a garden umbrella. Traveling light was his main reason for choosing Leica It was a really fine day today and those that turned up had a rewarding time as will be demonstrated when the film has been developed. Did you by any chance find a Leica diopter viewing lens belonging to Steve Unsworth ? Hope your 645 photos all come out. Rolo
stunsworth Posted July 13, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 13, 2008 Did you by any chance find a Leica diopter viewing lens belonging to Steve Unsworth ? I hope not, I've just ordered a cheap Chinese knock off from eBay. £16 + p&p. Slightly cheaper than the Leica offering. So the day wasn't as expensive as I at first feared. Rolo Posted July 13, 2008 Share #7 Posted July 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) So, how come this wasn't advertised here BEFORE the event... It's Falstaff's fault. I wondered why there was only the four of us there, being such a GREAT day, except for the overbearing sun shine. Rolo
stunsworth Posted July 13, 2008 Share #8 Posted July 13, 2008 I hadn't realised anyone else was going to be there. I saw a poster for the event in a pub and only decided to go this morning - as I explained to Rolo it was a toss up between Tabley and the first practice day at the Open. Rolo Posted July 13, 2008 Share #9 Posted July 13, 2008 I hadn't realised anyone else was going to be there. I saw a poster for the event in a pub and only decided to go this morning - as I explained to Rolo it was a toss up between Tabley and the first practice day at the Open. Welcome Adrian. Look forward to more posts from you. Apologies for bad manners above. Andy, Steve did say all that to me, but I am unable to confirm any of it. I didn't even know he played golf. We expected Pete, aka 'elansprint' to be there because there was loads of old cars and buses and motorcycles present and wherever there's a pic of a boring old car to be had, he's about. Then we remembered he fell off a chair after insulting a guy. If I can provide any further info, just ask. Rolo
stunsworth Posted July 13, 2008 Share #10 Posted July 13, 2008 Then we remembered he fell off a chair after insulting a guy And here's one of Rolo - international man of mystery - just before he fell off a traction engine attempting a high tariff swallow dive with pike. Rolo Posted July 13, 2008 Share #12 Posted July 13, 2008 Yes that was a great moment ..... Rolo If I ruled the world, ev'ry day would be the first day of spring Every heart would have a new song to sing And we'd sing of the joy every morning would bring If I ruled the world, ev'ry man would be as free as a bird, Ev'ry voice would be a voice to be heard Take my word we would treasure each day that occurred My world would be a beautiful place Where we would weave such wonderful dreams My world would wear a smile on its face Like the man in the moon has when the moon beams Welcome, dear visitor! stunsworth Posted July 13, 2008 Share #13 Posted July 13, 2008 I should add that I used the liquefy filter in Photoshop to distort Rolo's athletic frame. It seemed only fair. And in case you are wondering. I will be representing team GB in the 4x400 pints relay in the Beijing Olympics.
Falstaff Posted July 14, 2008 Share #14 Posted July 14, 2008 OK fellows, I put my hands up. I heard of the steam fair Weds/Thurs of last week, mentioned it to Rolo on Fri at coffee and we confirmed on Sat. I did not even THINK to flag it up – mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. And for this transgression, start up coffee for people at Morecambe bay will be on me. Falstaff ps good bumping into you Adrian.
Rolo Posted July 14, 2008 Share #15 Posted July 14, 2008 mentioned it to Rolo on Fri at coffee and we confirmed on Sat. Putting all the cards on the table Andy ...... that's the regular Leica M Coffee Morning at Manchester Art Gallery that you've been invited to and Stunsworth has attended on occasion. Wonderful forum for discussion of all things M including photo critiques and camera craft for newbies, that's really popular with the attendees. Falstaff has the diary. elansprint72 Posted August 20, 2008 Share #16 Posted August 20, 2008 What's a Leica M? One of those clock-work old things where you can't tell what going to be in your snap? Better orf with an Instamatic; proper mans camera. Can I come if I bring my Speed Graphic? Or Ernemann stereo camera. Or Ensign? Please... please.... Rolo Posted August 20, 2008 Share #17 Posted August 20, 2008 Can I come if I bring my Speed Graphic? Or Ernemann stereo camera. Or Ensign? Please... please.... Of course you can. Send your M camera serial number to the Administrator and he'll forward the meeting schedule to you. Presume your PM duty is now finished ?
