dcarter Posted July 9, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted July 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like many have been looking the Elpro D, not much luck...I had one last year and like a fool sold it when I sold the D2...I missed that D2 so much, I just purchased another (new sensor) and am once again putting together my accessories. That was an awesome close up lens. I'm afraid that the Canon 500D may not perform the same as the Elpro D....Any input is welcomed....Any suggestions for obtaining an Elpro D would also be appreciated (I am cruising ebay from time to time). Â Thanks, Darlene.
Advertisement Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Hi dcarter, Take a look here Hard to find Elpro D..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
farnz Posted July 9, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted July 9, 2008 Darlene, Â You might like to consider the Panasonic version that was produced for the D2's sister camera the Panasonic DMC-LC1. It's not quite as stunning as the Elpro-D but still gives impressive results. I am fortunate to own both but could be persuaded to part with the the Pana version. Please PM me if this is of interest. Â Pete.
wparsonsgisnet Posted July 9, 2008 Share #3 Â Posted July 9, 2008 Darlene, are these no longer available new? They are catalogued in a strange way and when I bot mine it took the dealer a while to find it in the product list. Â I emailed my dealer to see if he can find one. wparsonsgisnet Posted July 10, 2008 Share #7 Â Posted July 10, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Darlene, my dealer is beating up the rep. They'll yell if they can find one (an Elpro, no a rep; the rep's are mostly asleep and don't move very fast). Â Actually, they rep's probably have a very hard job since Leica rations all their products. I've been on the end of a couple of very long wait times. dcarter Posted July 11, 2008 Author Share #8 Â Posted July 11, 2008 Hi Bill, A miracle happened and I located one in the UK!!! It is on it's way and I feel very fortunate to have found it.. Thanks all for your willingness to help. This forum is great and I am glad to be a part of it. Â Regards, Darlene.
wparsonsgisnet Posted July 11, 2008 Share #9 Â Posted July 11, 2008 Congratulations. It's a great lens. The D2 really shines at close range with the Elpro. Â It's the names of the Leica things that both fascinate and confuse me, particularly the adapters for the Visoflex units... Â Enjoy those close-ups. elansprint72 Posted July 19, 2008 Share #11 Â Posted July 19, 2008 Could you tell us more about the difference? Â The Pansonic is a single element, the Elpro has two elements.
jrethorst Posted July 19, 2008 Share #12 Â Posted July 19, 2008 The Pansonic is a single element, the Elpro has two elements. Â Are you sure? This Elpro owner doesn't think so: Â http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/53741-elpro-d-ebay.html (last post): Â Â I understand the Elpro is two-element, and Panasonic's 69mm close-up lens is one element. Â I recall this comment surfacing a few years ago on this forum. I've had a careful look at the edges of my Elpro-D to look for any junctions of glass (in search of the two glass elements) against the metal ring. Â I believe from what I can see, my Leica Elpro-D seems to be a single element of glass.
elansprint72 Posted July 19, 2008 Share #13 Â Posted July 19, 2008 According to the Leica blurb at the time it was two element. Dugby has been saying for years that the Digilux 2 is no good for sports.
