stuny Posted September 21, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 21, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is another one from the tiny Ma O village in Myanmar. You might recall that since tourists are very rare we were essentially celebrities. Even more so when we gave school supplies to the school and handed out Polaroid photos of villagers. Wherever we went hordes of people followed. One woman invited us into a small building where we saw a boy of about 5 using a wooden machine about the size of a typewriter to make incense sticks that the village sold. I hope that the child will begin going to school once old enough. One of the village women was curious, but a bit shy. She stood at the window looking in at the strange Westerners, and that’s the first photo below – among my favorites from Myanmar. So that you’ll better understand my narrative above I’ve included two other photos. The first is a not so good photo of the child laborer – There was very little light in the building, and the boy moved quickly. The second shows Barbara swarmed by children in the school yard. You can see more Mo O village photos at the sixth page of Myanmar photos on our site.
