andybarton Posted July 13, 2008 Share #41 Posted July 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) - in my browser (IE) the "back to selection" command appears inserted on a gray rectangle... not nice to see, and the words result almost unreadable... surely can be fixed in some way. I repeat my advice to Stuart above... try a better browser.
Advertisement Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Please criticize my new website. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted July 13, 2008 Share #42 Posted July 13, 2008 The '<' and '>' graphics don't show you the previous or next photograph, they just start the thumbnails moving - this is in Firefox 3. This is a mistake IMHO. It's fine to say that IE isn't the best browser, but you must remember that is what the majority of people visiting the site will be using, you need to have a site that works for them even if it is a compromise. jaapv Posted July 13, 2008 Author Share #43 Posted July 13, 2008 I repeat my advice to Stuart above... try a better browser. It is probably the last button with that problem. If one uses Jpg buttons with a transparant background, they will show up grey in IE on computers with server software on them. We are changing the background to black. jaapv Posted July 13, 2008 Author Share #44 Posted July 13, 2008 Hi Jaap, compliments for the pics, first of all: I hope you'll add many others... The font, oh well, one can or cannot like: imho, isn't "the best.." but I couldn't say which is "the best"... don't care, it's unusual, it can stay. The style of presentation is also unusual, with the pic's data at the two sides... personally, I like it. Two issues : - when you enlarge a pic, the images of the group it belongs to, continue to roll OVER the pic itself... annoying, and a pity... it covers part of the picture - in my browser (IE) the "back to selection" command appears inserted on a gray rectangle... not nice to see, and the words result almost unreadable... surely can be fixed in some way. That only happens on vertical photographs, and on small monitors. It appears to be difficult to fix that. We are working on it. The grey, see above. nikkus Posted July 13, 2008 Share #45 Posted July 13, 2008 Jaap, Honestly I find the navigation difficult. So much so that on my Mac with high speed connection I did not bother to look through all the images. I have seen your images often on this forum and really like them. Perhaps it is my poor computer skills, but it is not easy to move from image to image. Nick
robert_parker Posted July 14, 2008 Share #46 Posted July 14, 2008 Hi Jaap The thing I've noticed with the site is the speed at which the thumbnails travel across the screen - on occasion, before I realised you could control the speed with the > and < keys, I was chasing a thumbnail across the screen before it disappeared. As others have said, the custom font, which comes across as a 1920s art deco, Ostend and Biaritz style, is superb as a logo and areas where expression of a style is needed but a piggy to read in practice. Like the pictures though.
jaapv Posted July 17, 2008 Author Share #47 Posted July 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, it is done for now; the typeface has been adapted, the arrows and everything works, adapted to work on all browsers, navigation more smooth, most if not all bugs eliminated, just a few last niggles and ideas left. I think I'll keep it like this for a while. A big thank-you to all who contributed:) - it has been a great help. Oh- Robert, as soon as you move the pointer away from the arrow, the filmstrips stops now.
