Michael-IIIf Posted September 20, 2006 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2006 Guido, I love the light, focus and colour. Chriisi, I have no problem with the composition - all these rules about thirds and Golden Sections are there to be broken. One of the most memorable photographic exhibitions I've seen recently was by Lise Sarfati - and she always puts the subject smack bang in the middle, and always landscape format. It works very well because the viewer stops thinking about clever framing and starts concentrating on the subject. http://www.schaden.com/book/SarLisThe03991.html Michael
vic vic Posted September 20, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 20, 2006 i think something is missing in this photo... but ya - i defenetly agree with michael - dont mind about those rules. good photography = new rules (if i dramatisize it a little of course). and ya - lise sorfati is great exaample about giving space to the subject and not to her "photographic creativity with compos angles etc". not that this is not valuable, but subject matter in its simplest form and purest presentation is just as valuable as creativity wth camera work. i would exchange the word RULE to the word BALANCE. this iswhat im trying to do in my photography, and this is also what im looking in photos of other people. balance is when things come together in one unity etc etc.
