ragc Posted June 21, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted June 21, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) How is the Leica II to IIIf Near Focusing Device used with screw-mount lenses? Is an adapter necessary to engage the bayonet flanges? Are the three models to be used exclusively with the lenses they were designed for? Sorry for the simple questions. lars_bergquist Posted June 21, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted June 21, 2008 I presume you are referring to the NOOKY (in one of its several avatars). The lens is mounted collapsed. It is the internal male bayonet that engages the female one in the device. Focusing is by the devices's helical. luigi bertolotti Posted June 21, 2008 Share #3  Posted June 21, 2008 ...And the mounting system well described by Lars is the reason for all 3 are dedicated to specific lenses : NOOKY : Elmar NOOKY - HESUM : Hektor - Summar - Summitar (the last, added at time of Summitar intro) SOOKY : Summicron collapsible and head of the non collapsible through UOORF ring.  All for 5 cm lenses, all rather common; for completness, there is also the rare OMIFO (for Elmar 90, fixed ratio 1:4) and the prototype only OMAPO ( 5 cm SM lenses, 1:4 fixe d ratio)  They still are the best way to have a good and simple near focusing with SM bodies. And the M version of SOOKY (SOMKY, with UOORF in case) can be used well on M8... I posted some flowers' pics taken with this combo: easy and light to carry, simple to mount... Welcome, dear visitor! Â Luigi, there is no competition here, just cooperation. although on my pict, the UOORF is on the SOOKY-M , your pict is much more explicit.
empeefourpee Posted July 5, 2008 Share #7 Â Posted July 5, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm confused. Will the SOMKY fit the lens unit of my 1973 Summicron (type 11817)? Thanks.
Philippe D. Posted July 5, 2008 Share #8 Â Posted July 5, 2008 I'm confused. Will the SOMKY fit the lens unit of my 1973 Summicron (type 11817)? Thanks. I don't think so (but JCB could probably be more specific in this case). Â The collapsible Summicron SOOIC/11116 will fit, and the optical head of the SOSIC/11818, with help of adapter UOORF, will fit for sure too (as the picture from Luigi shows). sabears Posted July 5, 2008 Share #9 Â Posted July 5, 2008 Yes,you can. In the 11817 the head unscrewed. Like on the previous version, it was designed like that in order to permit the use of that head on various close focusing devices, like the BOOWU-M(16526) or the SOMKY(16507) via the UOORF(16508) adapter.
