Hello!

I tried to search the forum for any references, but there were so many results...

My question is about the quality of the lens.

It seems to be relatively cheap lens, so what's "bang for the buck?" :)

I currently have only 50mm elmar-m and plan to get 90mm lens too.

If someone has sample fotos please post links or something.

Uhm... which lens exactly are you investgating ? For what I know, there is not any HEKTOR 90 mm f 4,5: indeed there are:

- Hektor 135 mm f 4,5

- Elmar 90 mm f 4

Both are two of the most common lenses for Leica Screw mount bodies, easy to find, but many of them (very cheap, around 100 Euros) are in less than good conditions: better to verify glass quality and smoothness of focus movement. And both are good lenses to use, like the old Elmar 50: one cannot expect high sharpness when wide open or next to, but if you use them regularly around 8-11 they are at all satisfying.

Both were produced for lot of years, pre and post war, with same optical formula and different finishings and details in mount, filter etc... : in my opinion, better to find postwar chrome items, produced around '55-'60 (say, numbers roughly 1.2xxx.xxx to 1.8xx.xxx) , possibly with E39 filter mount (filters are easier to find, if needed) and good lens coating (one of the few differences in their long years of production... coating started after WWII and the technolgy was made better in the years).

And... do not forget that in Leica screw mount you need external viewfinders !!! (apart on IIIG for 90 mm)
