Guest joewehry Posted June 17, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) A visit to the Leica web site Leica Camera AG - Home shows a new, somewhat interactive, introduction to the M8. The flash took a bit of time to load, (Flash, as in Web, not SF 24D....) but they put this very enjoyable content where the visitor can focus on a picture, choose a variety of lens, use the rangefinder field to focus and "take" a picture. You can take an in-focus or out-of-focus picture with amusing results. An excellent job of conveying the Leica experience on a web site. Congrats to the web team (and the photographers whose photos are used on the site.)
Advertisement Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hi Guest joewehry, Take a look here Leica Web Site Update. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TEBnewyork Posted June 17, 2008 Share #2 Posted June 17, 2008 Yes, I also think this is a much better effort than the last incarnation. It is slow to load but I do like the interactive change lenses and focus part. Congrats to all those who had their shots selected for the gallery. luigi bertolotti Posted June 17, 2008 Share #3 Posted June 17, 2008 Fine & Funny... the "live experience" of RF is well achieved.... and they insist on lenses "up to f 1:1" !!!! with Noctilux on the stage.... three hipotesis 1) Web application was developed before announcement of Noctilux' end of production. 2) They try to sell the "special edition" last batch at its modest price.... 3) Even after Noctilux' end... "up to f 1:1" lens shall be available...
Saloti Posted June 17, 2008 Share #4 Posted June 17, 2008 a) Attrachtive redesign We probably can expect new fast lenses for M-series c) I would not expect dramatic changes with regard to M8 body in 2008: My expectation is that they continue to improve software, plus some issues via upgrade program (however : no "M9") d) Diverse attractive body/lens-bundles around M8 e) Photokina 08 : concentration on lauch R programm e) Photokina 09 : M9
thrid Posted June 17, 2008 Share #5 Posted June 17, 2008 Much, much better than the last one, which looked like it had been designed by Hermes.

bill Posted June 17, 2008 Share #11 Posted June 17, 2008 b. not every M user owns an M8 Quite. So why is this thread in the M8-ghetto? Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted June 17, 2008 Share #12 Posted June 17, 2008 Not a clue Bill. It's not the first non-M8 specific thread to be started here, and I suspect it won't be the last.
Guest s.m.e.p. Posted June 17, 2008 Share #13 Posted June 17, 2008 You are joking, aren't you? Regards, Bill Sorry, I was not precise enough. Why do they show the lenses on the M8 without IR/UV-Filter???
benkelley Posted June 17, 2008 Share #14 Posted June 17, 2008 I'm with Rosuna... typeface is awful! And the site is awfully slow loading... I don't know how many non leicaphiles are going to wait for a minute on broadband!
marknorton Posted June 17, 2008 Share #15 Posted June 17, 2008 I notice that, alongside "How long are your hand-held exposures?" and "How small is your camera?", they omitted to add "How noisy is your camera?" The answer is: "Forget that quiet camera! The Leica M8 is really noisy, just what you need to draw attention to yourself!" Still, I suppose it's better than the 3.5 Love Stories or whatever it was. Mind you, they were starting from a pretty low base...

andybarton Posted June 17, 2008 Share #17 Posted June 17, 2008 Do you know what? I was with a lot of M8 users last week, and I can't say that I was bothered by the sound of the shutter once.

Guest WPalank Posted June 17, 2008 Share #19 Posted June 17, 2008 Not a clue Bill. It's not the first non-M8 specific thread to be started here, and I suspect it won't be the last. How much more specific can they be? The first page that loads says "Everything a good camera can be- The leica M8 And all images are from the M8. andybarton Posted June 17, 2008 Share #20 Posted June 17, 2008 There is a lot more to that website than the M8 though. Amazingly, Leica still make other cameras, including those that take film!
