You're right, in audio AAD does have a feel over ADD and DDD. Digital can be 'stark'. But for the vast majority, the beautiful studio machinery (Studers for example) are rapidly becoming redundant. I think you and I would probably agree that Studers and Revox machines (amongs others) were actually things of engineering beauty - amazing actually. But having to bake 2 inch tapes for 90 hours to get your album off is gladly a thing of the past (for me anyhow).

 

Film will, I think, go this way. News agencies, (who could be thought of as opinion formers in this area) find digital fast, instant, storeable etc. I work in media and when I first joined my current company we had an entire room full of photographic prints. That's now all in the digital domain......

 

It's a shame, I like film. Most here understand it better than I and some are wed to it for creative reasons. But for me, digital is easy, fast and now (with an M8 for example) easily comparable.....
