But they've been pulled.. did anyone get a copy before they were pulled?

Daniel.

Phil Askey's reply

"Unfortunately the samples are awful, we were told absolutely no crops, samples or anything from the pre-production cameras were allowed (STRICTLY). Honestly the test is flawed, the 5D images look horrible (not what I am used to seeing from a 5D) and the M8 images appear to be JPEG crops (and the JPEG engine was clearly not fully tuned in the camera we had).

It's a pity this kind of _______ gets out before proper controlled repeatable tests are carried out on production models. It can create significantly the wrong impression of a camera."

I saw, I read, I copied, but most importantly I thought.

Don't people understand by now that image quality cannot be judge until a camera finally ships with an official firmware release? Aren't there other factors as equally, or more important than image quality alone?

Since my core-business is shooting brick walls I find Erwin's review very %$+)>@P*U^!TS!

Shame on him.

His lens-reviews were biased but revealing.

But this!?

No up to date firmware to judge upon.

He does though say he would be back with updates on his review.

But still I do not understand how he could publish this.

I agree as this review is way off base in my opinion. I think it's time Leica reconsider having Erwin handle pre-production material as this type of shoddy review can cause the less interested to form a negative impression when one may very well not be called for.

As this product is so important for Leica it's a shame that a "trusted" party violated their conditions so blatantly.

Thanks!!! Very interesting.. I thought the Leica eye looked better.. and well the ropes cannot be believed.. My 2 megapixel phone can take a infocus picture of ropes!

Daniel--

Women just won't stand still for a Leica! :)

I now have seen theimages (thx Robert for the clue) and I must agree with Daniel - the Leica eye does look more engaging and interesting.

Same for all the other images as well, even the OOF 'ropes" LOL

Here is again an instance where the tech specs and detail do not provide what some (including me) find so dramatically different about Leica- not the reality but the liveliness. Also, I think the DR has a lot to do with perception of the elusive 3rd dimension (depth)

Look at the ropes (threads?, cable stiching? - girls, help!!!),

but get you nose BACK from the screen! :-)

For all the 'detail' the canon shot appears like an engineering drawing, in fact I do NOT see the threads a one over another the way the even OOF M8 image does.

Nuff said. These are poor examples, but to me (and I like LPs for sound, where the poor specs of tubes belie the great sound)) the M8 is going to do do what I want - that is create not details, but exciting images just as the DMR did. But as I said on another forum

"chacun a son gout"

or Vielleicht, ist Das nicht Ihr Fall!

but it IS my cup of tea.
