Adobe PSE4 + Vista + Leica = Grrr!!

So I just got a D-Lux-3, and it came with Photoshop elements 4.0.

I have a vista PC, and PSE4 is not compatible.

PSE upgrade costs $$. Leica is unresponsive.

Adobe won't even give out PSE5 upgrade for free, even though the current iteration is PSE6.

Any thoughts on how to proceed (i.e. Leica shipping a product that is essentially useless because it's not compatible with an operating system that has been standard on all PCs sold for over a year).

Please no "switch to XP" troll posts. This is the first and only problem I've had with Vista. Everything else has worked fine. It's just a real pain knowing that, having sprung for a new camera, I'm now on the hook for more $$ for software that supposedly came free with it.

If the above advise does not work, get Picasa from Google to have virtually the same functions you have in Elements 4.

Yeah, how about cooling down and trying get a grip on reality?

You bought a great camera with outdated software package, something that happens to millions of consumers every day (the software part, not the camera one). :D

If it came free with it why are you complaining?

Nothing is free, lunch included. If the software doesn't work, the vendor is distributing plastic coasters, and adding a small premium on the camera price for something of no value.

I run PSE2 successfully on a VISTA (minimum version) machine with no problems at all. Other older versions of things do not run, but that is for another rant. That does not fix the problem, but we might expect v4 to run if v2 runs...

Regarding Picasa as a substitue for PSE - I use both and while they have some commonalities, Picasa does not have anything close to PSE's editing and manipulating capabilities. I don't think it is an adequate substiute. That said, Picasa has a much better search and catalogue and display capability. Therefore, I edit and manipulate in PSE and organize mainly in Picasa.
