robsteve Posted May 31, 2008 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I went down to the Yacht Club to put a coat of varnish on my boat and ran into this. I managed to get a coat of varnish on before they got the boat in the air. This is Vincent Riou's IMOCO Open 60, PRB, in Halifax to make repairs. During the Atremis Transat Race, Mr Riou hit a whale shark damaging the keel and necessitating abandoning ship to the the saftey of a nearby competitor's boat. A tug boat with Mr Roy's support team was dispatched from Halifax to find and tow in the stricken vessel. The first image is with the 24mm and the rest are with the wate. robsteve Posted May 31, 2008 Author Share #2 Posted May 31, 2008 Here they are working at getting the keel off. My attention span was too short, and I went home before they finished.
Marquinius Posted May 31, 2008 Share #3 Posted May 31, 2008 Very nice series, especially witrh the detail of the man holding the rope. And yes, I would not mind doing a stretch on board either. Marco
stuny Posted May 31, 2008 Share #4 Posted May 31, 2008 Rob - Excellent series, especially the colors and details, but I worry for the whaleshark, the ocean's biggest fish, and one that terrifies only krill, plankton and spawn.
