andalus Posted May 26, 2008 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am headed from NCarolina to India for 20 days on July 10 with my just newly minted college graduate son (a grad gift I guess) Sean who finished UNC-Chapel Hill a Phi Beta Kappa and wants to go to med school in a couple of years. On July 20 we go to Istanbul and then plan to hit the Aegean coast, too, and spots like Troy and Ephesus. He will have his Canon point and shoot and I will have my MP and...what? I have the 135 APO, the 50 ASPH Lux and the 28 Cron ASPH. I am in a complete quandary about what len(ses) to take. Have to travel light cause we ain't rich and will be staying in God knows what places in India, and I won't be leaving my camera gear in any hotel room, or other valuables for that matter. I hear India can be rugged. I am thinking maybe just the 50 and 135, but maybe it should be the 28 and 50? Maybe all three? Any suggestions from those who have gone as far afield to India or places like it and faced a similar dilemma, suggestions appreciated. (So far I am just a Leica analog nut - for almost 40 years - but I do scan with a Nikon scanner occasionally and just a week ago bought Photoshop CS3 which, I know, will present a steep learning curve. I've been shooting slides, mostly Velvia, in recent years and then making occasional prints with Cibachromes.)

rob_x2004 Posted May 26, 2008 Share #2 Posted May 26, 2008 Jeez...28asph! Take the 50 as a safety net for portrait maybe.
earleygallery Posted May 26, 2008 Share #3 Posted May 26, 2008 Jeez...28asph!Take the 50 as a safety net for portrait maybe. Ditto. I'd probably end up using the 28mm for 95% of the time though, but taking the 50 as well isn't going to burden you too much.
