Charles, I do not have the 35 Summilux, so I cannot say anything with authority;) I would guess, from what I see on the Internet, that the Nokton is closer to the Noctilux than to the Summilux35 asph. Older Summiluxes - I do not know. I pair it with the Summicron 35 asph, which gives me a set of very distinct lenses in the focal length.

I got the logo from Don Goldberg - I don't know if he has any left.

Yes, it's closer to Noct then Summilux.

This is one miraculous lens:)

It cannot match

The Summilux pre-asph for size

The Summilux asph for resolution and contrast

The Noctilux for narrow DOF

But it can match

The Summilux pre-asph for smooth bokeh

The Summilux asph for lack of flare and coma

The Noctilux for character

And it beats

The Summilux pre-asph at resolution and coma wide open

The Summilux asph at bokeh

The Noctilux at low-light capability (35 vs 50 mm gains one stop in handholdablilty, it is only 1/2 a stop behind)

And the M8 framelines are pretty accurate

At under 600 Euro it must be the bargain of the century in Leica land...

Will I be selling my Summicron 35 asph? Never. A different lens with different use, and more suited for general use imo.

Cheers! :)

On this one I must disagree. There's a ton of extra headroom above the 35mm frameline for me. I find it not accurate at all.

Doesn't mean I don't love shooting with the Nokton (or any 35). But I crop like crazy, and chimp a lot for the important shots.
